Collonges la Rouge.
..... really brings in the tourists. As it has done for centuries, being another stop for pilgrims on the way to Santiago de Compostella.
It is just off the main road linking Brive and Beaulieu sur Dordogne - approximately a 2hr drive (each way!) You park in the car park on the main road and walk into the village.
As its name suggests, its main characteristic is the red sandstone out of which most of its buildings are constructed. It's a lovely village to walk around but best go mid-week, when it's a bit quieter.
